Dead by Daylight – Springtrap Ability Breakdown, Tips & Tricks
In Dead by Daylight, Freddy Fazbear, aka Springtrap or The Animatronic, joins the roster of Killers to hunt and scare the survivors who are hoping that they can escape his grasp easily. The Five Nights at Freddy’s jumpscare and mechanics are carried over to Dead by Daylight, where survivors can monitor the camera to locate the killer and expose his location to everyone else on the map.
Survivors who are playing against this killer non-stop seem hard to evade and escape, as it seems too overpowered at the moment. However, everything will change its course if you know these pro tips and tricks to identify how it’s security door and power work.
Springtrap Ability Breakdown, Tips & Tricks For Dead by Daylight
The ability of Animatronic is that it can throw its weapon, i.e., Fire Axe, at a survivor that arches down due to being heavy. If it hits the survivor, the Fire Axe stays in their body until it’s removed. If Animatronic catches up, then Springtrap can take down the survivor and carry them on its shoulder. This will make the Springtrap invulnerable to any flashlight or flashbang saves.
Movement Speed
When the Fire Axe is thrown by the Springtrap, its movement speed goes up to 4.6 m/s. However, if the Springtrap reclaims the Fire Axe, the movement speed goes down to 4.4 m/s.
Security Door
Generally, the Security door looks normal as shown in the image above. However, there is a slight difference when someone uses the door, which includes Survivor and Killer. Whenever a killer or survivor uses a door, the digital number will start blinking. Which indicates that the door is in use. For example, door number 4 will start blinking when it is in use, whereas the other doors will remain normal.
Camera
The Camera installed on top of the door can reveal the Springtrap, whether they are in line of sight or not. Meaning if it is behind the wall or shack, the camera can capture Springtrap and reveal it to all survivors. This increases their chance of survival. Just beware of the battery charge.
A player can constantly monitor the camera to reveal the Springtrap till the battery runs out, meaning, instead of a 10-second reveal duration, all players can watch the Killer till the battery charge runs out if the camera is capturing the live Springtrap.
As a Killer, Springtrap can destroy the camera by throwing his Fire Axe at the door. Whenever they hear a static noise means that someone is watching you from the nearby camera.
Aura Reveal
Killer can see the aura of the Fire Axe when it is embedded in the survivor’s body. However, the aura reveals can be countered by the survivors by removing the Fire Axe. If you do not want to remove Fire Axe but also do not want the Springtrap to watch his Fire Axe’s aura, constantly cancel the remove animation.
If the Killer misses the Fire Axe, then the radius of the Axe notifies whether the survivor has stepped on it or not. It is quite useful when to check the locker. If you throw the Fire Axe on the locker, the axe will notify you where the survivor is hiding. Similarly, you can throw the Fire Axe on the ceiling or top floor to check whether there is a survivor working the generator on the top floor in indoor maps.
Additionally, Springtrap can use the Fire Axe as Trapper’s Bear Trap on the Exit gates to notify if the survivors are working on which Exit gates for 15 seconds.
Use The Security Door
The Security doors are often placed next to the generators, which means that the killers can teleport and patrol the generators easily. However, it can also be used by the survivors as well. Though survivors do not often use the Security doors, but when you know that they are in chase, use the camera to check the surroundings and the generators to teleport quickly in order to save time.
As a Killer, you can throw the Fire Axe on the Security Door to disable it, which means neither they cannot use the camera or the door for teleportation.
Jumpscare
Killer will jumpscare the survivor inside the camera room only when the killer chooses to enter the entrance or exit gate that the survivor has chosen. For example, if a survivor enters door 4 to exit door 7, then the killer needs to either enter and exit through door 4 or door 7.
Killer will get a color notification on the doors, i.e., in use by the survivors. When the killer enters the door, they can choose which door they want to move through. However, if the survivor enters a door, then the color of the door will change from white to yellow.
Game Audio
As a Survivor, the camera does not give an audio warning, which means the footsteps and terror radius heard while using the camera indicate that the Springtrap is approaching your body or position.
Similarly, the killer can also use the door and camp inside it to hear the audio when any survivor approaches to repair the generators. To counter the door camping, survivors can walk past the door and also check the display of the door to see whether it is blinking or not.
Camping inside the door, i.e,. near the generator, can fill up the anti-camp bar on the survivor who is hooked. Therefore, it is widely used to catch the survivors off guard near the generators.
