The Miner plays a crucial role in maintaining the mobile base. He is responsible for gathering essential resources required to keep it running and for crafting new items. You can assign alters to different Mining allows him to operate with 50% more efficiency, making him a valuable asset.
In Jan Miner’s lifepath, he had lost his arm in a mining blast and became dependent on painkillers to cope. After being altered in the mobile base and waking up, the reverse phantom pain starts, and Jan begins asking for painkillers again, eventually becoming addicted and repeatedly injuring himself while working.
You’ll have multiple opportunities to speak with Jan after he injures himself. You’ll be given the choice to either continue supplying him with painkillers or stop. To save Jan’s life, you must stop giving him the painkiller medication. Eventually, he will decide to amputate his arm, which you don’t have to worry about.
With only one hand, the Miner becomes temporarily ineffective and can be reassigned to the infirmary. If you have a Scientist Alter in your mobile base, they will eventually offer to build a prosthetic arm for him. You’ll also have the option to regrow his arm using Rapidium.
Although the Technician Alter disapproves of using Rapidium Serum for regrowth, the optimal choice is to research the serum, cook it in the kitchen, and administer it to Jan. While he is hesitant at first, he becomes thrilled once his arm grows back, significantly improving his mood and performance.
