Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit – Story And Lore Explained

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit is a 2D horror adventure game whose main protagonist is a kid named Oswald. The Pizzaria, Jeff’s Pizza is somehow still connected to the 1985 timeline when it used to be Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Unfortunately, the portal that connects which is the name of the game “Into The Pit” takes Oswald to a night of horror that he will remember his whole life.

Story And Lore Of Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit Explained

The story starts with a boy who is in his home drawing scribbles on one summer day. The drawing resembled Springbonnie which he will know and encounter during the fated night. The summer vacation is going to end and Oswald is bored in the small town.

His dad always drives him to Jeff’s Pizza as it is one of the eating hubs that used to be famous. However, due to the closure of The Mill, his Dad is having a tough time financially. After leaving Oswald at Jeff’s Pizza, he expresses his feelings and contemplates about his current life in Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit.

The Time Before Disaster

In Jeff’s Pizza, Oswald is eating a slice of pizza when he overhears the conversation at the next table. They mention a ball pit that they used to go to while they were a kid. One of the women shares her experience that she got ringworm playing in the ball pit. This questions the sanity of the ball pit. But who cares when you are a small kid who is bored and agitated towards his Dad?

Oswald enters the Ball Pit room and notices that there is a “Do Not Use” sign on the ball pit. But in Oswald’s mind, his Dad is late and to trouble him he will hide in the Ball Pit. As he dives into the Ball Pit, the dark and gloomy room is suddenly filled with kids having a blast in the room. The drawings on the wall seem familiar!

There is some type of party ongoing at Jeff’s Pizza (Past) unlike the Pizzaria which he knows barely gets any customers. Then Oswald quickly starts investigating what’s going on and as he leaves the Ball Pit room and enters the Dining Area, there is a concert ongoing.

Instead of Jeff’s Pizza, the poster on the wall says Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Listening to the kid’s conversation, one Excited Kid says that they are going to watch Ghost Busters.

Pizzaria Condition Explained In Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit

So, the building stays true with the same room as Jeff’s Pizza but in the past, it used to be Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Upon seeing it, it used to be quite popular as kids flocked to the Pizzaria. However, there was an incident which destroyed their reputation. A man dressed as a mascot lured the kids into the back room and they were never found.

This was enough to destroy the reputation in the locale which makes it understandable why Jeff’s Pizza always has empty tables. The place had a bad reputation already and opening a Pizzaria in the same building with a different name will not help as the locales remember everything.

How It All Started

Now back to Oswald who is in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, he can see Chica, Freddy, and Bonnie performing the concert on the stage. Upon investigating more, Oswald’s newfound friend explains that the mill is attracting more family in the town which is currently closed as per Oswald’s timeline in Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit.

Chip and Mike propose to play Pizzaroller at first and give it a try. After having fun in the arcade, they play a game of hide and seek. Where in the storage room, you can find the Golden Freddy doll lying and the calendar beside says June 1985. Which solves the mystery of which year they are in the past.

The hiding spot was so good that Mike and Chip didn’t even find Oswald. Soon after that, the light goes off. A horrific growling sound paired with glowing eyes starts to come into the scene. Before passing by Oswald who is hiding inside the Golden Freddy, the creature or Springbonnie inspects the Golden Freddy. Due to his quick wit, Oswald made no sound and held his breath until Springbonnie crossed.

This horrifying scene was enough to let Oswald question what was that. After leaving the Storage Room and entering the Dining Area, the adults and kids were running outside and everything seemed chaotic.

The Night Of Terror

Springbonnie invites Oswald inside a room where he quickly spots a bunch of legs of the victims lying unconsciously in the Party Room. Seeing that Springbonnie pounces on Oswald but he manages to throw the round chair toward him and starts running away.

The only way to escape is the Ball Pit which is a portal to his present timeline. Upon returning to the present timeline, Oswald is greeted by Jeff and his Dad who are searching for him. Oswald’s Dad starts scolding him and then suddenly Springbonnie jumps out of the Ball Pit and drags his Dad inside the ball pit. Now, who is inside the nasty old thing?

Oswald cowers in fear but gains his composure back. Soon he spots his Dad’s shirt and starts pulling him from the Ball Pit. He successfully pulled his Dad out, but soon he learned that it was not his Dad that he saved. His Dad is stuck inside Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

1st Night

The possessed Dad pulls Oswald out of the Ball Pit Room and into the car to drive it back home. On his way home, Oswald is curious and starts asking what had he done to his Dad. Without any answer, his possessed Dad drove the car back to the home which surprised Oswald.

The safe place for any kid is his room, so he runs back and starts planning to Call his Mom. After distracting his possessed Dad and luring him outside the parent’s Bedroom, Oswald grabs his Dad’s phone to find that there are no contacts saved.

Finding Mom’s number is a task but Oswald made it happen. After calling his Mom, she runs quickly back to the home to check what is the situation. When Oswald starts explaining in panic, his Dad comes into the room with glowing eyes which only he can notice. After that, he made up his mind, that the only one who can save his Dad is him.

Oswald in his bedroom made a plan to escape from his home. After successfully evading his Dad and escaping his home, he goes straight into the Ball Pit. In the past, Oswald finds a kid trapped in an animatronic suit. To rescue the kid, Oswald needs a screwdriver. He knew this was the only night as this trapped kid couldn’t wait a whole day.

Oswald returns to Jeff’s Pizza where he acquires the key to the basement. In the basement, he will get the Screwdriver to save the trapped kid and let him escape. Next thing they know Springbonnie is on their tail and Oswald barely manages to escape the 1st Night.

2nd Day

The next morning doesn’t hit quite right to Oswald as there is a monster living under the same roof who has replaced his father. During the Day, Oswald has to resume his normal life and go to school.

In school, Jet lights up the firecracker in the playground. They run away from the scene safely, but Oswald finds him in the school and he offers a trade at the Library after school is over.

Keeping that in mind when Oswald is on his way home from school, a kid named Gabrielle offers Oswald his Grandpa’s sketchbook who used to be a technician. Well, the sketchbook has everything about the mascots or creatures that are crawling in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

2nd Night

At Nighttime, Oswald’s possessed Dad is on alert. However, Oswald escapes his home and makes his way to the Pizzaria. Now, the only task is to enter the Ball Pit and search for his Dad.

The Freddy Fazbear Pizza is completely dark, so Oswald makes a bold decision to turn the light back ON. After fixing the light, the search for Dad will introduce Oswald to a new threat Chica.

Chica is somehow easy to distract as all she requires is food to eat. In Jeff’s Pizza, distracting Jeff and stealing a slice of Pizza from the kitchen accomplish the task of getting the food. Lure the Bird i.e. Chica out from the kitchen and make your way inside. Oswald rescues Mike and calls it a night as Springbonnie starts chasing him.

3rd Day

Oswald resumes his school life where he can’t distinguish between reality and hallucination. All this change in timeline and lack of sleep had a toll on his brain. After completing his school, the sun started to set which made Oswald resume his task of saving his Dad.

3rd Night

Each escape exit is getting blocked each passing day by the possessed Dad. However, Oswald still manages to escape his home and enter the Ball Pit. The Arcade seems to be closed but Oswald gets a key to access the room.

Inside the Arcade room, Oswald encounters Bonnie. To lure him out, he has to fix his guitar, plug it into the amplifier, and play some notes. The tasks themselves prove a challenge but there is nothing that can stop this kid. After luring out Bonnie from the Arcade room, Oswald saves Chip but soon after that Springbonnie starts chasing. Making his way out of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, Oswald calls it a night.

4th Day

This morning, Oswald barely slept again. Still, he goes to the school where he is mocked by the kids. As he is sleep deprived and all the horror stuff he has been experiencing made Oswald rage. He charged straight at Dylan and ran out of school.

The only place to go is the Ball Pit. He enters slowly to go into the past where he hears a loud scream. Inside the Security room, Oswald will find Freddy. To lure him out, he has to create a large noise. He remembers that Jet who has a firecracker seems to lurk outside the Library.

4th Night

After successfully making a trade, Oswald lures Freddy out of the Security room to rescue a kid. However, after accessing the camera; Springbonnie is alert and patrolling the area heavily. To distract them, Oswald hurries and creates a noise someplace far away. Oswald hurries back into the Security room to find that the kid is taken away by Springbonnie.

Oswald hurries and finds the kid who is trapped inside the freezer. The freezer is shut tight and the only way to rescue the kid is to smash the freezer. Oswald gets the hammer from the Arcade room which was used to bonk Chip.

Upon saving the kid, Springbonnie discovers Oswald and starts chasing him. The only way to escape from this nightmare is Ball Pit in Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit.

5th Night

All the fatigue had bested Oswald as he slept through the whole day. The only task at hand is to rescue his Dad now. On the last fateful day, Oswald questions himself whether he will make it out alive or not. But he is too close to back out.

After entering the Ball Pit last time, the only room he has not accessed or searched is the Party Room where he first saw the corpse. Oswald successfully finds the key backstage and makes his way inside the room where he sees yet another kid trapped inside the room.

After rescuing her, Oswald finds a hidden vent that leads him to where his father is kidnapped. Oswald tries to rescue his Dad but soon he gets interrupted by Springbonnie. He knew there was no time so he made his way to the Ball Pit where Oswald encountered Springbonnie. They both clash, and Oswald buys time to run away into the pit with Dad.

After pulling his Dad inside the Ball Pit, both returned to Jeff’s Pizza but Springbonnie’s pursuit didn’t end. Springbonnie came to the present timeline to get his target back into his world.
