In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you need to unlock heroes and interact with them to use their powers. There are enemies, undiscovered areas, and creatures. One such character includes Gray which you need to unlock in the quest “A Gray Matter”. This guide will help you to unlock the character in the quest.

After completing the chapter 2 quest “The Knight Right Hand” you will need to recruit who will teach you how to climb the walls. Now, you reach the Kamos Guidepost of the Aetia region and head towards north till you find a pink-colored moss wall near the question mark. Climb the wall, turn right and go behind the cliff to reach the question mark. A cutscene will be played introducing Gray, a Full Metal Jaguar attacker.
There will be an onset of the fight between the team and the Metal attacker. His attacks will be wide and powerful. Fight with him till making his health half which will be followed by a cut scene where Gray will flee by jumping in the river. A fight will take place between the team and the soldiers which can be won with ease. Again, there will be a cutscene where the team decides to meet Gray again. Go to the riverside where you will get a quest to Track Mystery Man’s Trail.
Interact and follow the trail of footsteps. Gray would be wandering on the river bank. After that, a cutscene will be played when the Knives soldiers would have tailed you. The team and the mystery man would team up to fight with the soldiers which will lead to an easy win. After the last interaction with Gray, he will introduce his name, and the quest is completed. This is how you unlock Gray.
