Marvel Heroes Shuts Down After Sexual Harassment Allegation Against Gazillion’s CEO
Publisher Disney and Developer Gazillion entertainment will be shutting down their game Marvel Heroes a free to play MMORPG game which featured major characters from marvel universe like Ironman, Captain America, Wolverine and many more.
The news of shut down comes after many sexual allegations began to surface against Gazillion CEO Dave Dohrmann. according to the MassivelyOP, the sexual allegation began to emerge right after Harvey Weinstein case. many allegations were backed up by former Creative Director Jeff “Doomsaw” Donais. in a Reddit post, he wrote
“Definitely don’t judge the company based on the CEO, Dave Dohrmann (that’s his actual real name which he had to change for reasons that a simple google will illustrate).
“His reputation for inappropriate conduct, especially towards women, is something that “industry insiders” are aware of talk about behind closed doors. His conduct has been tolerated because he often controls the money flow and is a good talker. This is a problem at some tech companies and needs to be addressed much more assertively.
“I won’t post the blog about him or get into details, but I will say that the regular employees Gazillion are very solid people and probably deserve a much better example of leadership.”
According to CBR Publisher Disney has also released an official statement where a rep disclosed that they ended their relationship with Gazillion and Marvel Heroes will be shut down soon.
“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”
According to Steam charts when Marvel Heroes came out in PC in 2013 it started to gaining popularity by 2014 it was averaging few thousands of players but over time it started losing players and by 2017 it only managed to attract around 300-400 players per day.
The game was launched on PS4 and Xbox One about 5 months ago on 30 June 2017 under the title Marvel Heroes Omega and it is still unknown how the game performed on them.
On the official forum of Marvel Heroes Gazillion has announced that the game will be shutting down on 31 December 2017 and all sort of purchase will cease to exist.
“We’re sad to inform our players and our entire Marvel Heroes family that Marvel Heroes Omega will be shutting down. The Marvel Heroes servers will stay on until Dec 31, 2017, and we’ll be removing real money purchases as soon as possible. Players will be able to play the game entirely for free once this sunset period commences. We will share the exact date things go completely free as soon as we can.“
