Ubisoft CEO Predicts PlayStation 5 To Arrive In 2019 With Fourth Xbox

With the arrival of Microsoft Xbox One X which is currently the most powerful console in the industry, many are wondering what will be the move of its rival Sony who has twice the number of player base on PS4 and even more games.

Many speculated that with Xbox One X release Sony will surely announce the PS5 which can topple the position of One X as the most powerful console in the market. Shawn Layden, the President, and CEO of Sony Interactive America even confirmed previously that it is bound to happen but it still has some time. But when will the PlayStation 5 or shortly PS5 will arrive?

Well according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot the new next-generation console from both Sony and Microsoft will be coming in a span of next 2 years that is in late 2019. GamesIndustry is reporting that in a call to investors in the latest financial results, Guillemot said the following

“As Sony launched PlayStation 4 Pro last year and Microsoft Xbox One X this year, we think we still have a minimum of two years in front of us before something new is coming,”

“But that’s our perception, we don’t have any confidential information on that front.”

Now the question is if both the console giant releases the next-gen console in 2019 what will happen to PS4 Pro which came on 7 September 2016 and the new Xbox One X which just came out a few day ago on 7 November 2017.

That’s just a lifetime of 3 years for PS4 Pro and 2 years for One X which is short for a console and also the next gen would most probably cost more than $500 so gamers would have to spend more money in the name of upgrades.

Further Guillemot also said that move from both Microsoft and Sony is necessary to bring more powerful technology giving more power to developers.

“We really like the fact that Sony and Microsoft are really putting more power in their machines, using the evolution of technology to give power to our developers to create better games for our players,”

“That is going in the right direction rather than trying to do accessories or other things. That is going to help the industry a lot because the games will be really beautiful on those machines.”
