Developer and Publisher IO Interactive had a difficult with Hitman time this year, despite bringing new missions with continued support it failed to increase the sales and it also received a heavy blow when Square Enix withdrew from it as a publisher and decided to sell it other parties.
Luckily IO Interactive managed to do an all-out management buyout and retained the rights of Hitman. after getting back into business the studio announced that the game won’t die and as a first move the announced massive discounts on the game and even made the first episode available to be downloaded for free.
Many are now wondering whats next in the Hitman Franchise and to answer this Io-Interactive CEO, Hakan Abrak has etched an open letter to the fans revealing some rather interesting news.
According to Abrak letter Hitman has surpassed 7 million players in the game and to celebrate the occasion they have released a new content named Game Of The Year edition which contains new mission, outfits, weapons and more.
He also thanked all the fans and new players for supporting the game
I also want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you, in advance, to everyone who supports us by purchasing the GOTY Edition or the Upgrade. Your support will directly help us to continue on our independent journey towards the next Hitman game and beyond.
Lastly, he informed all the players of the game that they are making good progress and are adding new features which will be available in the first time in the franchise but they won’t reveal it until 2018.
I want to let you know that we’re making great progress and we have exciting new features and some franchise firsts, which we can’t wait to tell you all about. You’ll have to wait a little longer as we don’t plan to start talking about that until some point in 2018.
Hitman is one of the classic game which has managed to stay afloat amidst the heavy competition. we hope that the new content will be good and bring success to IO Interactive’s new adventure in future.
