Chris Savino an American animator and the creator of the popular Nickelodeon series Loud House has been suspended from his position after many people complained about getting sexually harassed by him during their time in Nickelodeon.
According to the article by Cartoon Brew, dozens of women have come forward and alleged that the 46-year-old Savino harrassed them by making sexual advances towards them and when they did not comply with him he threatened them with forever blacklisting their name in industry or just ruin their career.
A Nickelodeon spoke about the issue but did not confirm if Savino is still in the studio or not
“Viacom is committed to the safety and well-being of our employees, and to fostering a workplace free from harassment. As a matter of policy, we do not comment on specific employee matters, but we take all allegations of this nature very seriously, investigate them thoroughly and take any necessary actions as a result.”
After Cartoon Brew posted their article one of the harrassed artist came forward and shared a terrifying incident with Savino. the anonymous artist claimed that a woman working on a project which was under Savino was sexually harassed by inappropriate text messages on many occasions but when she turned him down. he used his power to remove her project.
And just like in most cases the victim did not report it as she feared it would affect her career in the longer run.
Now it does raise the question of what would happen to the show? Loud House has managed to become top animated series within months of its release. on June 2016 it was Nickelodeon’s most viewed show beating Spongebob Squarepants with an average rating of 4.9 among 2-11 aged children.
Nickelodeon has also planned for Loud House console games while talking to GameIndustry.biz Suzie Adams Digital Director of Nickelodeon UK, said
“The Loud House has rapidly become one of our best-loved properties and there are plans to develop it further in the multiplatform space,”
With such allegations against the creator of Loud House, it could mean some trouble for both the animated show and upcoming game in future.
