Politicians Urge For Ban On Upcoming Dirty Chinese Restaurant Game

Developer and Publisher Big-O-Tree Games has been working on their first new game called Dirty Chinese Resturant. in the game, players take the role of a cook named Wong Fu and he will be running a shady and dirty Chinese restaurant. to keep the business running players will be hunting alley dogs, cats and mice for food, evading taxes to cut down cost, bribing health inspector, hiring illegal workers and serving the customers with unhealthy food just to keep them fed.

But many politicians and media outlets did not like the subject of the game and are upset as according to them it is racist and degrades and insult Chinese community. now they are calling out Google, Apple and other mobile game distributors to ban the game even before it releases.

According to the description of Big-O-Trees on their website, the new Canadian studio motto is to make offbeat games which no one dares to make and their official tagline is “Because being politically correct is so… Boring”. you can check out their trailer of the game below to get an idea about their game.

The game is currently receiving criticism and hate of both US and Canadian politicians and media outlets.

Markham’s current Mayor Frank Scarpitti took to Twitter and said the following

The Liberal party member and the 25th Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne said such types of racism has no place in Ontario

New York Congresswoman Grace Meng made a series of tweets about the game and urged tech giants like Google, Apple, and Android to ban Dirty Chinese Restaurant on their platform.

I urge Google, Apple, Android and any other platform to not carry bigotreegames “Dirty Chinese Restaurant.”

This game uses every negative & demeaning stereotype that I have ever come across as a Chinese American. How we portray people matters.

Racism against Asian Americans is just as harmful as racism against any other group, and we must call it out when we see it.

But many people weren’t happy about the politician’s viewpoints and didn’t shy away to voice their opinion.

Big-O-Tree responded to the situation and said that their game is no way promote racism and is entirely satire and comedy

“It has come to our attention that our small, independent game, ‘Dirty Chinese Restaurant,’ has upset some people due to its content. Our game is mainly satire and comedy influenced by the classic politically incorrect shows we grew up watching, such as: ‘South Park,’ ‘All in the Family,’ ‘Sanford & Son,’ ‘Family Guy,’ ‘Simpsons,’ and ‘Chappelle’s Show.’ We also listen to Jay-Z.”

The most interesting thing about this situation is that Big-O-Tree released till now has released two trailers and the first one was released on 2 October 2016 and the second trailer was released on 7 November 2016.

Till now the majority of people didn’t know about the game but as the politicians are making it an issue more and more people are watching it. So basically you can say that it is getting free publicity just like PQube recent game Fight Of Gods which was banned by Malaysian Government because the game has religious deities like Jesus, Moses, and Buddha as fighters but the move only gave publicity to the game which doubled their sales.

Dirty Chinese Restaurant currently does not have any fixed released date but judging from the situation it may never enter Apple or Google Play Store.
