Developer Meteorise and Publisher Marvelous have recently released their new game Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni. it was launched on Steam on 20 June 2017 and has been performing well and has racked up very positive review from gamers.
But after completing almost 2 months period on steam it has been removed from the Australian and German version of Steam because they find the content of the game objectionable.
The developer of the game has posted details of the issue on Steam Forums notifying people that the game will be currently unavailable for Australian and German gamers.
The message from steam community
As of today, 10th August 2017, VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI-, VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- Complete Edition and the VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- Complete DLC Pack are no longer available for purchase on Steam in Australia and Germany.
VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- was removed for sale in these countries in accordance with local legislation.
This announcement does not affect any other country and VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- will continue to be available to purchase on Steam in other countries.
Those who currently own VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- on Steam in Australia and Germany will still be able to play the game from their Steam library.
This is not the first time for Valkyrie to fall into local legalisation problems. earlier in 2016 both Australia and Germany refused to give the console version of the game any type of rating and the reason behind it was the presence of sexual content.
Because it didn’t receive any rating no retailers and digital distributors were able to sell it. and now the same thing has happened to the PC version of the game.
But there is still hope as the developer said in the forum that they are looking for a way to fix the problem.
If the current content of the game is a problem for both the region. the only way I see the game returning to Australia and Germany is if it receives some sort of censorship.
