World’s Best Dota 2 Pros defeated by Elon Musk’s A.I Startup

Dota 2

Valve’s Dota 2 The International 7 championship is currently going in KeyArena Seattle, Washington and has almost reached the final day of the event. like every T.I this event also had some exciting surprises like the announcement of Artifact, A Dota card game and the reveal of 2 new heroes.

But one of the most spectacular special presentation was by Elon Musk’s backed A.I Startup OpenA.I a non-profit research organization which has created a bot capable of defeating Pros from Dota 2.

Before bringing the Bot to the main stage of event it was tested on other Talents and Pro players like Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan, Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Per Anders Olsson “Pajkatt”, Ioannis “Fogged” Lucas, and William “Blitz” Lee and none of them were able to beat the Bot.

Finally, a 1v1 match was demonstrated on the main stage between the Bot and Danylo “Dendi” Ishutin the winner of The International 1 and the result of the match? he got crushed by the Bot. you can check out the match below.

Although the Pros were defeated by the Bot it would be wrong to say that it is better than them as the match had some restrictions on it like.

  • No bottles
  • No Shrine
  • No Runes
  • No Raindrops
  • No Soulrings
  • No Neutrals

These are some important aspects of the game. but one thing everybody would agree on is that the Bot’s  actions and gameplay were very close to humans and significantly better than the Valve’s Bot. Dendi said he was surprised at how good the Bot was.

Elon Musk himself announced the achievement of the OpenA.I on twitter

Dota 2 is one most complex game in the world which require high skill and years of practice to even become a Pro in the game. but the Bot was able to learn every data and training in just weeks.

The performance of the a.i was very good and it is highly possible that in the future Open A.I could create Bots which can compete against a full team in a 5 vs 5 matches that would be really exciting to watch.
