Assassin’s Creed: Origins Video Reveals New Combat System And Weapons
Developer and Publisher Ubisoft will be soon releasing Assassin’s Creed: Origins and it will be the tenth installment in the Assassin Creed series. this is a huge project for Ubisoft and they are making sure that the gamers know all the features before the release.
Recently a new video has been released by the team which gives details about the new combat system. it has received a complete overhaul with significant differences than its predecessor. it also contains new enemy classes and a wide variety of weapons each with its own pro and cons.
You can check out the 8-minute video posted on IGN channel in which game director Ash Ismail talks about the new features.
So now there will be no paired combat system meaning that you hitting strike button on your controller is not enough. you would have to target the enemy and then hit them with your weapon manually to damage them. this combat system is new to AC series but most of the gamers have already experienced this system in games like Prince of Persia, Witcher series, Dark Souls and more.
Then there are light attacks which are basically normal attacks and there are heavy attacks which could be used to break the shield and other defense of your enemies. one notable changes is that your shield will now not protect your back which forces players to keep track of their enemies around them.
There is a parry system, which means if you block an enemy attack you can stun them for a brief moment which is enough to launch your own combo. the Adrenaline system is also new and you can use it to launch attacks which deal massive damage. different weapons will have different effects when adrenaline is used with it.
Enemies
Ismail in the video describes three base types enemies the brutes, the elite soldier and the assassins.
Brutes – they have slow movement and also slow attack speed but their attack deals massive damage. man fighting them would disastrous so let them make a mistake and then attack them.
Elite soldier – they are more powerful than standard soldiers and faster and deal heavy damage. when they come out to fight you it creates a 1vs1 situation with other soldiers cheering him.
Assassins – this is currently my favorite enemies because it’s like fighting yourself. they can use smoke bombs and traps to fight you. they can also use the environment around to hide and do a surprise attack.
Weapons
All the weapons in Assassin’s Creed: Origins will work on three basic principles Range, Speed, and Damage. the weapon system comes with an RPG element in which players can use it to upgrade the three traits of any weapons.
There will be 8 categories of melee weapons some of the known characteristics of melee weapons are
- Dual Sword – the fastest weapon in the game which can deal huge damage in a short time. but it has an extremely short range which makes Bayek more vulnerable.
- Spear – it has medium range and can deal good damage but is low attack speed. it is favorable to use it when you are surrounded by enemies.
Range weapons also come with its own variation like
- Warrior bow – which can shoot multiple arrows at a time
- Rocket bow – which can be used to break enemies shield
- Predator Bow – which can be used to kill enemies without giving away your position.
It seems that the game is developing well and the new features are looking great. just hoping that they fix bugs and glitches before releasing cause it a major issue in previous AC games.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins is scheduled to release on 27 October 2017 for PC, PS4, PS4 Pro and Xbox One. for more information you can visit the official Website.
