The video starts off with an ability named Spider ball in which Samus transforms herself into a ball with spikes. the ability can be used to climb vertical platforms with ease and although she can attack in the form. but she can lay charges behind her which acts like a mine damaging anyone who touches it.

Soon Samus reaches a boss fight against a giant fire spitting turtle which seems pretty hard and it’s not even the main boss. defeating each mini bosses will reward the players with health and some new items and upgrade like we can see that the turtle mini boss drops a spring ball further into the level Samus acquires the Varia Suit which reduces the damage taken from enemies and also prevents damage from extreme heats.

A new feature added to Metroid: Samus Returns is teleportation station which can be used to directly enter to any selected area on the map. another feature is the melee counter which when well timed can be used to knock off enemies.

Demetrius also explains about the two Ion Abilities which Samus can use the first one is the Scan Pulse which when used scans an area and reveals potential threat or secrets and the Lighting Armor ability will protect you from damage and can be also used to perform a bigger melee counter.

But performing ion abilities also drains a Samus’s ion meter so use it wisely.
