Sega Ends Sonic The Hedgehog Comics Partnership With Archie

Sonic The Hedgehog

Sega’s Sonic The Hedgehog comics has been running for nearly 25 years but now the comics series has ended marking an end of an era. the memorable comic will no longer be produced by Archie’s comics.

The sad news was announced by Sega from the Official Sonic The Hedgehog twitter account which states that the gaming giant company has ended their partnership with Archie’s comics. this does not mean the end for Sonic comics but surely Archie’s will not be responsible for the production of it.

“After 24 years of memorable storytelling, Sega of America will conclude their Sonic the Hedgehog publishing partnership program with Archie Comics. This does not mark the end of Sonic in comics, but signifies Sega of America’s decision to take a different direction for the series that will be announced at a later date. Sega would like to thank Sonic’s amazing fans for their loyalty and passion over all the years. Sega looks forward to providing more information soon.”

Archie’s comics is an American comic publisher who made the original Archie series. the company has been producing the Sonic Comics since 1993 after getting in contract with Sega. some other notable comic series produced by them are the MegaMan, The hangman, and The Black Hood.

No reason has been given by Sega about why the partnership ended but previously Archie has removed Sonic from the subscription list and replaced it with a different title. other sonic titles like Sonic Super Digest and Sonic Universe were also removed by Archie. So it is possible that the termination of the contract is not a sudden move.

It would be interesting to see what happens to the characters like Shadow The HedgeHog, Big The Cat, Rogue The Bat, Ray The Squirrel and more

Sega has not revealed how the comics series will be produced in the future will it be by them? or by another comic publication company? nobody knows. Sonics upcoming game is Sonic Mania which will be releasing soon. so they might announce something new with the launch.
