E3: Ashen An Open World RPG With Dark Souls Styled Combat

Ashen

Developer Aurora44 and Publisher Microsoft have released a new trailer for their upcoming game Ashen. the game is an open world survival game with exploration and heavy combat in a lightless world.

It has been in development since 2014 and was first revealed at E3 2015 and was scheduled to be released in 2016 but was delayed. now at E3 2017 it once again appears with a new gameplay trailer but with no announcement of a release date yet.

The website describes the game as

Ashen is an action RPG about a wanderer in search of a place to call home. There is no sun and the natural light that exists comes from eruptions that cover the land in ash. This is a world where nothing lasts, no matter how tightly you cling to it.

At its core, Ashen is about forging relationships.
Players can choose to guide those they trust to their camp, encouraging them to rest at the fire and perhaps remain. People you meet out in the world will have unique skills and crafting abilities to bolster your chances of survival.

Together, you might just stand a chance.

Ashen Trailer:

The trailer shows a unique art style kinda like rendered polygon with fewer details and with the fluid movement of characters it surprisingly looks amazing. gameplay also looks combat heavy with timely attack and dodging similar to Dark Souls and Witchers series.

It has a non-linear progression system which means no two people will ever have the same game. the world is ever changing and simple things like just being in a different location can make a lot of change.

The RPG element of the game is focused more on the equipment of the characters rather than building up stats. you will find various gears will exploring the world which you use to upgrade your characters abilities.

A unique feature of the game is the “Passive Multiplayer” in which you can play with other human companions but when he is not available you can switch the human player character with an A.I controlled NPC to continue the journey. the multiplayer is not necessary even if you journey alone you would still find other A.I but they will have their own purpose and trusting them is up to you.

Ashen has no release date yet but it is known that it will come for PC and only on Xbox console. for more information, you can visit the Official Website.
