Ryzen’s New Competitor Core i9 Arrives
Intel has announced during the keynote address at Computex in Taiwan about the addition of a new line of CPU in its I-Core family The Core i9. it will have 10 percent faster multithread and 15 percent faster single thread performance than its previous generations.
The latest i9 X-series CPU will come in five variant as follows:-
- Core i9-7980XE with core/ thread of 18/36 CPU for $1999.
- Core i9-7960X with core/thread of 13/32 CPU for $1699.
- Core i9-7940X with core/thread of 14/28 CPU for $1399.
- Core i9-7920X with core/thread of 12/24 CPU for $1199.
- Core i9-7900X with core/thread of 10/20 CPU for $999.
Currently, only the details of i9-7900X is revealed by Intel it has 10 Cores and 20 threads, base clock speed of 3.3Ghz, with a boost clock of 4.3 and 4.5Ghz, an L3 cache of 13.75MB, four channel DDR4-2666 support, TDP of 140W all for a price of $999. this is the cheapest of the five i9-X series.
The i9 X-series all have Skylake X- family and will require new LGA 2066 motherboards which would have new X299 chipset offering better I/O capabilities.
The specs of the upcoming i9 X-series details that it will have monstrous power and will enable extreme multitasking. currently, there is no game that even uses so much power. but now as we have the hardware we may soon see games which utilize those beastly powers.
The consumer of the latest CPU currently would be a probably those who use high-end software like in video production industry the time taken for rendering and encoding video files will reduce significantly. or for the engineers who use heavy calculations. it will also be useful for gamers to stream, and record video while playing at 4k resolution.
